Falling In Love

I have always struggled to find love. I suppose the fact that I had a stuttering problem did not help or maybe that was just my excuse.

Having a stutter also affected my career where I worked for umbrella companies – this was not exactly an industry where I would have the opportunity of meeting many women!

I am quite short for a male and always prefer to date women who are smaller than I am. This of course means that the “field” is reduced some what. I prefer a calm lady – not a person who is too loud or too emotional – women who just seem to laugh or even worse giggle at seemingly everything for me are just the most annoying creatures. I also prefer them to be brunette with a nice smile and attractive eyes, a slim figure would also be a bonus.

What I have just described is what I believed to be my perfect girlfriend. This whole notion was blown out of the water around ten years when I had to work on a project at an air compressors company where I worked with a woman called Sam. She was about ten years older than I was and I will never forget what my first impressions of her were. This girl is a bit a state – I thought to myself. She had made no effort with her appearance, had not even brushed her hair it seemed, she dressed as if she was twenty years older than she actually was and basically looked like she had not slept the night before.

Despite these first impressions I have to say that Sam was so nice and helpful to me over the next three months. She is probably one of the kindest and purest people I have ever met.

After about ten weeks of first meeting Sam, I started to dream about her and I think I fell in love with her. It was not as if she had started to wear make up or had started to style her hair or started to wear smart clothes – no she was still some thing of a mess. This was no longer of importance; it was the person as a whole that counted.

I never ever admitted to Sam how I felt as she was married, I think that her husband is one of the luckiest men on the planet.
