Unconditional Love – What Is True Love?

Love is a very common term and often one of the most abused words in the thesaurus. All men know about love. At least they got ideas about love. Even a child knows this word yet, only a few understand the real definition of love. Some deem love as fervent and tender affection. Some assume it is a strong afinity. A couple would say that love is bliss.
 
It appears that, love is vague and complex to describe. You can graze hundreds of dictionaries, illustrious psychology books and authors however they all fail to define the true message and essence of love. To know the real meaning of love, we should refer to God, the author of love. In all verity, God is love.
 
God does not simply love but He is love. It is for the reason that love is His nature and the demonstration of His self. The whole thing God does, flow from His love. It is not a mad and sappy love that earthly people feel.
 
The bible teaches that “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails”
 
With this explanation of love, you will know that love is not just a feeling or a matter of great fondness, appeal and preference. People are mistaken about love and how to stay in love. Mainly, people simply focus on the nobleness of the person they love. Absolutely, it is easy to love people who are your own flesh and blood or your associate who stayed with you through thick and thin. What if that person is no good, a misfit in the crowd? What if you are not blood related and he or she is your foe? Are you still willing to do the things mentioned in the bible?
 
Unconditional means pure or not constricted by conditions. Unconditional love is keenness to love no matter what. This kind of love was demonstrated by God when he send His Son to save us from death. And He did this while we were all sinners and unworthy of the precious gift of eternal life. God loved us even if we are seditious and rebellious. Our nature does not know how to love others even ourselves. But because God showed His love through His son Jesus, we now have a clear picture of love and most of all – unconditional love.
 
You may perhaps be wondering if it is possible for you to love unconditionally just like God because you are only human. Marvelously, God has given those people who receive Jesus as Savior not only eternal life with Him but also the ability to love unconditionally as He does. This is through the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells on them.
 
 
Understanding God’s love gives wholeness to your life. Only His love satisfies thus allows you to enjoy and have a significant life. Allow God to show and experience His love through believing in His son Jesus Christ and giving your life to Him. Then love will involuntarily overflow and empowers you to love other people unconditionally through the Holy Spirit.
